Madeline Willette

Philadelphia Express Track Club

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the passing of our dear friend and colleague Madeline Willette of the Philadelphia Express Track Club. She passed on March 13, 2009 after a brief but aggressive battle with cancer.

Madeline was an intricate and essential part of our UAGTCA organization and she will be sorely missed. An almost 40 year veteran of the Youth track scene in the Mid-Atlantic Area Madeline was widely known for her Cross Country series held each Fall at Belmont Plateau, Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, PA.

She was a founding member and the current Treasurer of the United Age Group Track Coaches Association. Since she generally handled the registration duties at every UAGTCA sponsored meet she was familiar to almost every participant.

Madeline was a career educator who taught at Roman Catholic High School, Hallahan High School and most recently Neuman-Garetti High School in Philadelphia. Her overall love of sports, especially the kids she coached, made her very special to each of us. She was a kind and unselfish person who only wanted the best for her charges.  A lifelong Philadelphian, she was a 20 year Philadelphia Eagles season ticket holder who could also be seen at many local high school and college basketball games as well.

Her smiling friendly face will not be easily replaced. Funeral arrangements are pending and we will advise all as soon as they are finalized.
